# pimthai

> pimthai (https://pimthai.app) fixes text typed on the wrong keyboard layout between Thai (Kedmanee) and English (US QWERTY), in both directions: the user forgot to switch input language, so "พิมพ์ไทย" came out as "rb,rNwmp", or "username" came out as "ีหำพืฟทำ". Paste the text and pimthai converts it back. Free, no sign-up, runs entirely in the browser (text never leaves the device), works offline as an installable PWA. The interface is in Thai.

This is a deterministic keyboard-layout converter, not a translator: it does not change the meaning or the language of correctly typed text, it only undoes typing on the wrong layout.

## How it works

- Every key types one character on each layout, so the conversion is a key-for-key mapping (Kedmanee ↔ QWERTY).
- **อัตโนมัติ (Auto, default):** detects which layout the text was mistyped on and converts it. If most of the text is already correct, it fixes only the mistyped words.
- **ผสม (Mixed):** for text mixing correct Thai and English; converts only the mistyped words. Converted words are underlined, uncertain ones get a dotted underline, and any word can be tapped to switch it back.
- **ตรงตัว (Direct):** plain key-for-key mapping with no guessing, for games, puzzles and "secret" messages.
- Keeps real English inside mistyped Thai (names, technical terms, URLs) and fixes brackets typed on the Thai layer, e.g. `ZJavaScriptX` → `(JavaScript)`.

## Linking users to a conversion

Agents can send users straight to a pre-filled result:

- `https://pimthai.app/?q=<text>`: Smart mode (URL-encode the text)
- `https://pimthai.app/?q=<text>&mode=mixed&to=th`: Mixed mode, target Thai (`to=en` for English)
- `https://pimthai.app/?q=<text>&mode=direct&dir=en2th`: Direct mode (`dir=th2en` for the other way)
